-What does this calculate?
This tool calculates how likely you are to catch a certain Pokémon in the wild. It takes into account all the factors that influence the probability of whether the Pokémon will break out.
The results table above shows the chance of catching the specific Pokémon depending on how good your throw is, and the type of PokeBall that you throw.
All Pokémon that you encounter in the wild will always be level 30 or less, and below your trainer level.
How this calculator works
The factors that affect the catch chance are:
The Pokémon | Each Pokémon has a base catch chance built in to the game. |
The Pokémon's level | The higher the level of the Pokémon, the lower the chance to catch it. |
Throwing a curveball | This gives you a 1.7 times increased chance for a successful catch. |
Using a razzberry | This gives you a 1.5 times increased chance for a successful catch. |
Pokémon type medals |
This gives you a 1.1 times, 1.2 times, or 1.3 times increased chance to catch the Pokémon depending on whether you have a bronze, silver, or gold medal. When a Pokémon has two types, the average of the medal bonus is taken - e.g. a bronze and a gold medal would result in a 1.2 times multiplier. |
The ball type | A Great ball gives you a 1.5 times greater chance, and the Ultra ball gives you a 2 times chance to catch. |
The throw |
Throwing inside the circle gives you an increased chance to catch, with the multiplier ranging between 1 - 2 times. We've taken the averages of the circles, where the large circle (nice throw) gives you a 1.15 times multiplier, the medium circle (great throw) gives you a 1.5 times multiplier and hitting the small circle (excellent throw) gives you a 1.85 times multiplier. |
